cricket matchResidents' Meeting with Cricket Club - Thursday 26th April 7pm

Dear HowZat? Supporter. As some of you will already know, the Cricket Club has agreed to hold a meeting with local residents on Thursday 26th April at 7 pm in the Jessop Suite at the Cricket Ground. Local Councillors have also been invited.

We have attached the letter from the Cricket Club, which also contains a fixture list and details of floodlight use etc.(See below)

The Club has told us that they have distributed 2000 of these letters to neighbouring streets. If you did not receive one and think you should have done please let them (and us) know.

Please do try to come along to the Residents' Meeting and hear about the coming season. You can also feed back any problems from last season and make suggestions for improving arrangements around match days.

The 2018 season has relatively few big matches. However next year, in 2019, the County Ground is due to host a One Day International between England and Pakistan AND four matches in the Men's Cricket World Cup.

So this season is the last chance to try out any improvements which could make life easier next summer......

Please come and show your support.

Best Wishes

HowZat? Residents' Group

Letter from GCCC:

I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying at least some hints of spring after all the snow of late. At this time of the year I wanted to update you on some of the highlights of the forthcoming season as well as providing details on floodlight usage etc. For your ease of reference, there is a First Xl / International fixture list printed overleaf.
Residents' Meeting:
We will be hosting an early season meeting for local residents on Thursday 26 April at 7.00 pm in the Jessop
Suite which is located on the ground floor of the Bristol Pavilion. I hope I will see many of you there.
Floodlight usage:
We currently have 6 First Xl matches confirmed as being played under lights in 20 1 8, one in May, one in June and 4 across July and early August. We also have 2 days of International cricket which may involve the use of the lights. The first of these is an exciting double header on Thursday 28 June which sees the South Africa Women's side do battle against New Zealand Women before the evening match with New Zealand Women taking on current World Champions England. This should be an absolutely tremendous day of cricket and we hope many of you will be able to join us for all or part of the day.
We then host England vs India (Men) in an International T 20 match on Sunday 8 July. This match has already sold out and we are expecting a capacity crowd of 15,000. The match is scheduled to be played in the afternoon so we're hoping floodlights won't be required but, as ever, the match officials like to have them ready and available should the natural light diminish.
Should we qualify for the knockout stages of any tournament (dates also detailed overleaf) then lights may be required. We might also need them for top-up purposes during any other professional "day" match at the ground but as agreed with Bristol City Council we will not exceed 1 5 usages and envisage the number to be considerably less.
"Major Matches":
We anticipate that two fixtures will attract larger than average crowds; England vs India IT 20 on 8 July and the Gloucestershire vs Somerset Vitality T20 derby match on 1 3 July.
In the build up to these events we will endeavour to keep disturbance to local residents to a minimum but would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.
On these match days, as a result of requests from residents and with the co-operation of the Police and local authority, we will once more introduce a traffic management scheme to allow for access and egress of emergency vehicles and in an attempt to avoid traffic congestion on the roads surrounding the ground.
In order to facilitate this Nevil Road will be fully closed and stewarded with access being maintained for emergency services at all times in all parts of the street. The stewards will be briefed to allow access for local residents.
In conjunction with First Bus the Club is encouraging all spectators to use public transport and the Park and Ride facilities.
Should you require any further information, or have any concerns, please contact the Club on 0 1 17 910 8000.
Yours sincerely
