SORRY! PLANNING PORTAL OUT OF ACTION: We are sorry to have to announce that The Bishopston Planning Portal is currently out of action. For technical reasons beyond our control, much of the information gathered via the portal is not currently being updated automatically, and therefore the portal does not currently provide a reliable indication of the details or status of planning applications. You may still view it, but beware of misleading results please. We are working to develop a fix for this problem. Bristol City Council's online planning database at https://planningonline.bristol.gov.uk/ remains the definitive source of information.

Bishop Rd new design

It is interesting to find that one of the top design awards for 2015 given by the Bristol Civic Society is for the new extension of Bishop Road Primary School. This design when first put forward was strongly criticised by the Bishopston Society.

The Civic Society's comment on the design (and on their other design awards) can be seen here.

The Bishopston Society had felt so strongly that the design for the school extension was completely insensitive to and indeed incompatible with the original Victorian building, that it appealed to English Heritage to list the building so that, if this was agreed, the new design would not be permitted to be built. This original response and action taken by TBS can be seen  here
