An "Information Open Day" is being held on Tuesday 20th November 2-8pm at Bishopston Library over the new plans for the old Bristol North Baths building.
The controversial heritage building is being sold by Bristol City Council, and the architects for the preferred bidder have already consulted Bishopston Society and others, but are now going public on the plans, which focus on converting the building into affices, as we already reported.
Full details of the formal planning application, and the response we've submitted, are available on our Planing Portal, along with the details of the associated request for listed building consent.
Saga, what saga?!
Here's hoping that this move might herald the beginning of the end of the long-standing saga about this famous local landmark. As many readers will be aware, it's been standing empty, despite massive public concern and much prolonged debate, for many years...
....in fact it featured in The Bishopston Society's very first newsletter soon after our formation, as you can see from this clipping from our Newsletter No. 1 of February 2003!
Anyone wanting a fuller history is invited to use the Search facility (top right of any page here on the Bishopston Society web site) using the search term "Bristol North Baths". Equally, our archive of all newsletters would reveal much coverage over the years.
Either way, please heed this health warning - reading all this would take some time!
Meanwhile please make your own views known - from our Portal record here, follow the link to the Application site, where public comments can be submitted as usual.
