SORRY! PLANNING PORTAL OUT OF ACTION: We are sorry to have to announce that The Bishopston Planning Portal is currently out of action. For technical reasons beyond our control, much of the information gathered via the portal is not currently being updated automatically, and therefore the portal does not currently provide a reliable indication of the details or status of planning applications. You may still view it, but beware of misleading results please. We are working to develop a fix for this problem. Bristol City Council's online planning database at remains the definitive source of information.

Proposal: New two storey extension to side of existing house and new first floor extension over part of existing house.

The Bishopston Society are very concerned about the design quality of this application and the adverse effect on neighbouring properties and the character of the local area.

The design is highly incongruous, far too small in scale and with its hipped roof has no satisfactory relationship with the existing terraced houses alongside. Furthermore, the 2 storey design with its many upper floor windows will overlook and overbear adjacent properties and their private rear gardens.
We consider that this tight/irregular site would be best developed as a single storey courtyard house, such that it would have no adverse impact on adjacent properties and the character of the neighbourhood.
We strongly recommend that the application is refused.

Update  :  This application was refused on 27 May 2016.
