SORRY! PLANNING PORTAL OUT OF ACTION: We are sorry to have to announce that The Bishopston Planning Portal is currently out of action. For technical reasons beyond our control, much of the information gathered via the portal is not currently being updated automatically, and therefore the portal does not currently provide a reliable indication of the details or status of planning applications. You may still view it, but beware of misleading results please. We are working to develop a fix for this problem. Bristol City Council's online planning database at remains the definitive source of information.

planningapplicationsPlanning Application 16/04531/H

Proposed roof extension to create additional living space.

We are not objecting to this application but have two comments :

1. The proposed window in the new front gable is set too high and too close to the roof. The front elevation would look considerably more elegant if the window was approx 200mm lower.

2. The barge boards to the proposed gable would look far more convincing if they were made of timber rather than UPVC. They are described as 'decorative', but decorative UPVC looks thin and phoney. A simple design in timber, like No. 7A would enhance the end result no end.
