SORRY! PLANNING PORTAL OUT OF ACTION: We are sorry to have to announce that The Bishopston Planning Portal is currently out of action. For technical reasons beyond our control, much of the information gathered via the portal is not currently being updated automatically, and therefore the portal does not currently provide a reliable indication of the details or status of planning applications. You may still view it, but beware of misleading results please. We are working to develop a fix for this problem. Bristol City Council's online planning database at remains the definitive source of information.

planningapplicationsWe consider that this application is too large, too tall, too close to the boundary and does not take consideration of the amenity of no. 101 alongside.

2 Fiddes Road overlooking 1The planning drawings make no reference to the existing windows on the east elevation of no. 101 and the design appears to take little account of them. The architectural character of the proposal does not happily reflect the main house, and the splayed corners and half pitched/half flat roof to the extension look out of keeping and uncomfortable. Our view is that this application is oversized for the space available and has a detrimental effect on its neighbours and the street scene. We recommend refusal.

Update on TBS response (Nov 2nd 2017) to submission of revised plan:

The revisions to the roof shape of the proposed extension do little to resolve the problems of scale and proximity to the boundary and the neighbouring property. In addition, the roof plan, elevations, sections and 3D model do not match up. We continue to recommend refusal.
